The United States continue to escalate its attacks on Nicaragua. Nicaragua is yet another in a long line of countries which, seen as a threat to U.S. imperialism, is being subjected to sanctions based on unsubstantiated allegations and outright falsehoods.

The real purpose of these measures is not the well being of the Nicaraguan people but the protection and strengthening of the interests of U.S. imperialism in the region. The U.S. imperialists and their allies in Nicaragua wish to undermine the popular democratic process in favour of their idea of democracy: democracy of rich.The Workers’ Party strongly condemn the relentless attacks and false narratives emanating from a servile, venal right wing media controlled by the United States.

The Workers’ Party demand that the United States bring an end to the sanctions in place against the Nicaraguan people immediately and allow the Democratically elected government the freedom to continue their ongoing work to improve the lives of the Nicaraguan people.
