Dublin Central Workers’ Party representative Éilis Ryan has described the government decision not to pay student nurses as “despicable.

“Ryan said:”The decision by the government not to pay student nurses shows the true level of contempt that they hold frontline workers in.

She continued: “In the midst of a pandemic, these student nurses, like all frontline workers, are overworked and understaffed, yet TDs taking home hundreds of thousands of euros don’t see fit to pay them for their work.

“Ryan concluded, saying: “The level of arrogance from the government is truly on show here. To show such disregard for those who have been the heroes of this pandemic is despicable, especially when you take into account the pay rise politicians have given themselves.”
