Dear Comrades,
The Workers Party of Ireland sends warm comradely greetings to the Workers Party of Bangladesh and extends its best wishes and solidarity to the WPB on the occasion of its Tenth Congress taking place in Dhaka, Bangladesh from 2-5 November 2019.
The 10th Congress is being held at a time when the people of Bangladesh are struggling against imperialism and fundamentalism and confronting the growing threat to secularism and democratic rights from the forces of communalism. At the same time capital pursues its interests by its unrelenting attacks on the living conditions of the working class and the poor and the opening of the economy to global capitalism. Capitalist exploitation and oppression and imperialist aggression remain a threat to the people of Bangladesh and the world.
In this year when we celebrate 100 years since the foundation of the Communist International, the working class in many countries is still confronted with the rise in bourgeois nationalism which is utilised to divide workers on ethnic, national or religious grounds, to weaken the workers’ movement, to distract workers from the class struggle and to obstruct and delay the advance towards socialism. In these circumstances the communist and workers’ parties must highlight and advance the principles of proletarian internationalism and international solidarity.
The WPI wishes the WPB success in your deliberations at your 10th Congress which we believe will strengthen and consolidate the struggle for the rights of the working people of Bangladesh and the defence of their interests.
The WPI conveys its greetings and solidarity to the leadership and cadres of the WPB. We look forward to the continued strengthening of relations between our two parties.
Long live Marxism-Leninism!
For a democratic secular Bangladesh!
For workers’ and people’s rights and socialism!
