Head Office: 24a-25 Hill Street, Dublin 1, Ireland
To: The Central Committee,
Deutsche Kommunistische Partei

19th September 2017

Dear Comrades,
The Workers’ Party of Ireland sends warm comradely greetings to the German
Communist Party and extends its best wishes, solidarity and support to the DKP in
the federal elections which will be held in Germany on 24 September 2017 to elect
the members of the Bundestag. The DKP is participating in this election on a clear
class basis that denounces capitalist exploitation and oppression and opposes
imperialist barbarity, militarism and war.
The election programme of the DKP around the slogan, Peace Jobs Solidarity, exposes the ever widening gap between the rich and the working class, the massive
expenditure on armaments, the urgent need for job creation, for better social
benefits, including increased child allowances, and a public investment program for
housing, schools, hospitals and transport. The DKP, as a revolutionary party, has deep roots in the German working class and a
long history of struggle. 100 years from the historic victory achieved by the Great
October Socialist Revolution and the creation of the world’s first workers’ state it is
clear that the emancipation of the working class can only be achieved through the
abolition of the capitalist system and the construction of a socialist society.
As in Ireland, workers in Germany face the prospect of unemployment, low wages,
precarious work and attacks on social and labour rights as the capitalist class forces
workers to pay for the capitalist crisis. The DKP, as a party dedicated to the
progressive demands and interests of the working class, deserves the support and
solidarity of fellow revolutionary parties at this time.
The WPI believes that the participation of the DKP in this election will play an
important part in raising class consciousness and in creating the political conditions
for the development of the class struggle.
The Workers’ Party of Ireland supports the struggle of the DKP and we extend our
solidarity and best wishes to the DKP, its members and supporters and we wish the
DKP and its candidates success in the elections taking place on 24 September 2017. With sincere communist greetings,

Gerry Grainger
International Secretary and member of the
Central Executive Committee
Workers Party of Ireland
